“Mother” Moment

I rarely post “braggy” things, but as I did once before last autumn, I want to share a short video of my younger daughter singing a portion ofĀ “On My Own” from Les Miserables at the conclusion of a “Broadway Camp” that she attended, taught by Broadway professionals, this past week. That’s why she’s not in costume or otherwise “in character”.

My daughter is 14 and was the youngest participant, but she got so much from the program. And yes, I’m her mom, but even if I wasn’t, I’d love the maturity and tone of her voice. She’s really a soprano (I’ll do another short video of her singing in some of those ranges later this week) but you’d never know it from this performance.

Thanks for letting me indulge in these occasional “mother” moments. šŸ™‚ And if you decide to click and listen, I hope you enjoy.

Talent

UrsulaSo, I’m going to do a little shameless bragging here. It’s not about me, but about my 14 year old daughter, who was unaccountably blessed with a full singing voice and an actor’s soul. She’s featured as “Ursula the Sea Witch” in a Community Theater production of The Little Mermaid Jr…and she did well enough in the role that the directors added in a song from the normal “Broadway” version of the musical for her to sing (“The Good Times Back”… theĀ 1 minute,Ā 38 secondĀ video of it isĀ posted below). It’s notĀ the greatest quality since it was from my phone, but I think she did a bang up job with a pretty tricky, jazzy song. Have a listen if you’re so inclined. šŸ™‚
